Soundproofing in Texas: Stop Noise Before It Reaches You
Soundproofing keeps sound from passing between rooms, floors or buildings. It works by adding mass, breaking the connection between surfaces and sealing gaps. DeWalls Acoustic Specialties designs and installs soundproofing for offices, clinics, schools, churches, restaurants and industrial sites, from McKinney across DFW and Texas.
Soundproofing blocks sound between rooms. Acoustic treatment calms the sound inside a room. They are different jobs.

HOW SOUNDPROOFING WORKS
How Sound Proofing Works, in Plain English
Four things block sound. Mass: heavy walls and layers stop more sound than light ones. Decoupling: separating the two sides of a wall so vibration cannot cross. Damping: materials that turn vibration into heat. Sealing: closing gaps around doors, windows, outlets and the top of the wall. A job needs the right mix for how the sound travels.
Sound travels through the air (voices, music, traffic) or through the structure (footsteps, bass, equipment). Air noise is the easier one. Structure noise needs the building changed.
Foam and thin panels do not soundproof. They absorb echo inside a room, which helps how a room sounds but does not stop noise from reaching the next room.
A small gap defeats a heavy wall. Sealing is part of the plan from day one.

Where We Soundproof
We rate walls by STC (how much sound they block) and panels by NRC (how much sound they absorb).

Commercial Soundproofing FAQs
What is soundproofing?
Soundproofing blocks sound from passing between spaces. It uses mass, decoupling, damping and sealing. It is not the same as acoustic treatment, which controls echo inside a room.
How do I soundproof a room?
Find how the noise gets in first. Then seal gaps, add mass to the walls and ceiling, upgrade the door and windows, and add panels inside to control echo. We check each one at the consultation.
Do acoustic panels or foam soundproof a room?
No. They absorb echo inside the room. To block noise from getting in or out, you need mass, decoupling and sealing.
How do you soundproof commercial walls?
We add mass, separate the wall layers and close the gap above the ceiling. The target rating depends on how the space is used. See our commercial soundproofing page.
Can an existing room be soundproofed?
Yes. We retrofit walls, ceilings, doors and windows in buildings that are already built, and we plan the work around your hours.
How much does soundproofing cost?
Every commercial space is different, so we do not publish a flat rate. The scope depends on the room size, how the sound travels, the rating you need and the materials. Request a consultation and we scope your project.
